“It was difficult, I didn’t think he would talk about it”. Matthieu Delormeau was caught off guard when one of the columnists mentioned his cancer on the set of “TPMP People”. A subject that has been talked about for many years now but which has recently been put back on the table after the sad announcement of Florent Pagny on January 25th. Indeed, the coach of The Voice took over his Instagram account to announce that he was a victim of lung cancer “inoperable”, discovered a little “by chance”. Following his video published on social networks to hide nothing from his community, the artist received the support of many colleagues, personalities, and fans.
In “TPMP People”, Matthieu Delormeau and his team wanted to debate whether the stars were right to reveal their health problems in broad daylight. Guillaume Frisquet, columnist present on the show, agreed with Florent Pagny after reacting to the words of his colleague Florian Anselme. “I hope for you that you have not been extremely sick, it happened to me last year. I had a terrible thing”, he revealed on the set without really saying what he had suffered apart from the fact that he had been “operated for hours”. Guillaume Frisquet continuing by insisting on the need to be accompanied in this kind of event: “because when you face this kind of illness, the only thing that matters is your mind”. After this moving declaration, Matthieu Delormeau could not remain silent. The host taking up the thread of his show, not failing to salute the speech of his “partner and friend”, with tears in his eyes: “it was difficult, I didn’t think he would talk about it”.
Despite this emotional sequence, the premiere of “TPMP People” with Matthieu Delormeau was not a huge success. Bringing together 300,000 viewers in the first part and 500,000 in the second, this representing 2.6% of PDA, according to Médiamétrie. The program being overtaken by the JT of TF1 and France 2 or even Scène de Ménage on M6 as well as Cuisine Ouverte on France 3.
