They are one of the most emblematic and passionate couples in French pop culture. For around ten years, the actress Béatrice Dalle and the rapper JoeyStarr lived a tumultuous love story, from which the two artists retained a real attachment. And Béatrice Dalle has no doubt about what made this relationship “successful”.
Guest of the show Click and questioned by Mouloud Achour, the 59-year-old actress returned to the secrets of her relationship with JoeyStarr. “You say that he is the love of your life and that the secret of this relationship was the fact of not living together. Does living together kill love?”, first questions the Canal+ presenter. Béatrice Dalle’s response is straightforward, in her image: “I think so. Personally, everyday life doesn’t interest me”confesses the actress.
“JoeyStarr is not always a sweetheart”
With her legendary glibness, the actress, revealed in the film 37°2 in the morning by Jean-Jacques Beineix, revealed his vision of love and relationships that work: “It’s good to see each other as lovers. Suddenly, you prepare yourself for the moment you’re going to spend with him, like the beginnings of a love story”she explains. “Everyone agrees that there is the excitement of meeting again, of waiting for a phone call until you die if you don’t have it”then detailed Béatrice Dalle, before concluding on the subject by specifying that she “had never really lived with [ses] guys, even if you’re married”.
Seen as “bad boys and bad girls”, Mouloud Achour nevertheless tried to bring a “teddy bear” image to JoeyStarr. But the stopping was put in place by Béatrice Dalle, well aware that the temperament of her ex-companion can sometimes be volcanic. “It’s not always a love interest, not always a teddy bear. But hey, I saw how he wrote and I knew he was for me”admits the actress.
Béatrice Dalle also used strong tactics to try to conquer the rapper. “I have a friend who found his address on rue de la Roquette in Paris and I went there. He was with his girlfriend, I said to him: ‘There’s no point, at one point he we have to save time”. I know he’s the guy for me. Well, he was quite willing”, says the actress amusedly today. A thunderous start to a relationship for a story that was just as thunderous.
