In December 2017, Johnny Hallyday breathed his last at the age of 74, following lung cancer at his home in Marnes-la-Coquette. After his disappearance, his clan literally imploded after the opening of his will. After countless legal twists and turns, Laeticia Hallyday ended up finding common ground with the rocker’s elders. But to this day, the singer’s widow is still cold with them.
On April 3, Canal + will reveal to its viewers a new, highly anticipated interview with David Hallyday. However, during the interview as indicated Gala this Wednesday, March 15, 2023, the main interested party took care not to mention his ex-mother-in-law, nor his young sisters Jade and Joy. But in a sequence, the musician agreed to return to certain wounds still raw.
“My sister (Laura Smet editor’s note) and I, the children, were unable to accompany our father. Not having a second chance is something that cannot be repaired…”, regretted the son of Sylvie Vartan. In 2018 facing journalists from seven to eight, David Hallyday assured that the “medical staff” of his father would have deprived him of farewells. “I spent the day waiting to get into his office where he was hospitalized, and I couldn’t make it,” he underlined, specifying that the doctors “had received instructions”.
“It scarred me”
Distraught, David Hallyday would therefore have left a letter to his parent… “I left it with the service person and left. When I came the next day, I was told that they had not been able to give it to him or read it to him. It scarred me,” specified the husband of Alexandra Pastor. Following her shock confidences, Laeticia Hallyday defended herself in the columns of Paris Match as for the last moments of her man.
“I asked our doctors, David Khayat and Alain Toledano, to call them, even though they had never been in contact with them. I couldn’t carry everything anymore. A doctor knows how to find the words… […] The next day, friends joined me. David and Laura too. They insisted on going to the bedroom, but my man didn’t understand,” confided the businesswoman.
Before concluding with a heavy heart: “It wasn’t that he didn’t like them. But having to deal with them, in that situation, when they weren’t seeing each other much, it sent him back to his death. This death he had been fleeing and fighting for fifteen months. He refused to receive them. Without having the courage to tell them…”
