This project with Josiane Balasko which Thierry Lhermitte had to give up…

Inspector Derrick on the big screen: this is what Thierry Lhermitte promised… Remember, in January 2020, the 70-year-old actor announced on RTL that he planned to bring this famous character in a feature film. “Derrick in film, in 2D with glasses, it’s in the works, it’s in writing”, he had revealed, excited at the idea of this project.

“It started as a joke, to tell you the truth. Then by dint of saying it and making people laugh, I said to myself: ‘Damn, but that’s super funny.’ […] We like to make fun of the Germans, it must be said, so an inspector as slow and boring as Derrick, there is something to laugh about. So here we go! », he added. And to conclude confidently: “If we write it in 2020, it’s great, if we shoot it in 2021, it’s great”.

And for good reason, our colleagues from Puremedias.com shared an excerpt from the program in which he mentions the aborted “Derrick” project.

“We have everything, except the money. We got kicked out.” revealed Thierry Lhermitte. Television channels, distributors, streaming platforms, no one wanted to finance this project. “We tried everything”has also specified the one who saw himself entering the skin of the famous inspector and giving the passage the reply to a handpicked distribution. “There was Isabelle Nanty, Lucien Jean-Baptiste, Josiane Balasko who played Angela Merkel. There was Michel Blanc who played an ex-swimmer from Eastern Europe.… With such a cast, one wonders why this project did not finally succeed…
