The Rugby World Cup ended last week with South Africa’s victory. France, which organized the meeting, therefore had to face a new failure and the players of the French XV are still having difficulty digesting their ouster at the gates of the final. During the competition, player Antoine Dupont suffered a jaw injury in the middle of a match against Namibia, which required him to undergo emergency surgery in Toulouse.
Two plates and screws were fitted to him during this rapid intervention and it was finally with a helmet that the player returned to face South Africa in the quarter-final. A final match which led to the ousting of France from the competition… and several players including Antoine Dupont protested against the refereeing.
“There are clear and obvious things that are easy to call and which weren’t. I don’t know if the match is lost on that, but in the crucial moments we could have had penalties. When there is an advance of 60 meters, these are still easy things to whistle. I don’t want to be the bitter person who complains about the refereeing because he lost, but I’m not sure that the arbitration was at the level of the stakes today”, he declared to journalists.
Despite the criticism and the bitter taste of defeat, many players treated themselves to a well-deserved getaway. Antoine Dupont, for his part, set down his suitcases in Bali, Indonesia, in a more than magnificent and exotic setting. The 26-year-old young man has indeed treated himself to a few days of vacation in a sumptuous luxury villa. A stay unfortunately already ended since he then shared on Instagram, photos of his return trip by plane, after explaining that he had opted for one of the best companies according to him, Emirates.
