This is what spring should look like

Spring promises to be “ordinary” with cool temperatures close to normal for the season at least until early May. Snow could also fall in certain areas such as the Laurentians. Here’s what the next few weeks will look like.

“For the next few weeks, there will be no significant hot air surge. We should have temperatures that will be close to normal. With, for example, for the southwest, maximum 4 and 6 degrees during the day, and at night temperatures close to the freezing point,” explained André Cantin, meteorologist at Environment Canada.

The good news, he says, is that there is no major weather system that would bring a lot of rain. “It bodes well for a fairly slow melting of the snow cover [ce qui réduit les risques] of floods.

The meteorologist points out, however, that certain places could still be entitled to snow, in particular the sectors of the Laurentians, the region of Quebec, Bas-Saint-Laurent, Gaspésie and Côte-Nord.

Snow in the metropolitan area or in Montérégie “is not impossible,” added Mr. Cantin.

“It’s a very ordinary spring with temperatures close to normal,” he said, stressing that “the first 15 degrees are still a long way off.”
