The next European elections, due to be held in June, are “arguably the most important elections of the decade”believes Sunday January 14 in Political Questions on France Inter and franceinfo TV Raphaël Glucksmann, MEP Place publique.
The MEP considers that the American presidential election places a certain weight on Europe. “The Americans can bring to power Donald Trump who will throw overboard the European security architecture, who will leave us alone in the face of war, alone in the face of climate collapse and alone in the face of the rise of authoritarian regimes”, laments Raphaël Glucksmann. In this context, the European elections will therefore be about knowing whether Europe is “ready to take on this solitude, to become an adult”. “Are we going to define an adult Europe capable of assuming its own security, its own power?”he asks himself.
Raphaël Glucksmann does not want to let the Europeans be “kidnapped by the match” between Prime Minister Gabriel Attal and the president of the RN Jordan Bardella, “made by communicators”.
