“It doesn’t happen every day but these are not isolated cases”recognizes on the evening of Wednesday September 13 on franceinfo the local secretary Force Ouvrière (FO) justice of Fleury-Mérogis (Essonne), Didier Kandassamy, after the escape of two detainees Tuesday September 12, during an outing in the forest of Fontainebleau (Seine-et-Marne).

“We are not in a spectacular escape like Redouane Faïd”, insists the union representative. The two detainees escaped during a “walking race”. They have been “sorted case by case during a specialized commission”explains Didier Kandassamy, to participate in an outing “dedicated to reintegration”.

“Better select” prisoners

“We were in the nails” concerning supervision, he assures, with “6 or 8 inmates for 4 or 5 supervisors”. The supervisors were not armed. “We never have maximum security during these outings”recognizes the FO justice secretary of Fleury-Mérogis.

“Some thought should perhaps be given to better supervise outings and better select those who participate”concludes Didier Kandassamy.
