After heated votes, all the key positions were awarded in the National Assembly on Saturday, July 20. To discuss this, Martin Garagnon, spokesperson for Ensemble pour la République, is a guest on 19/20 info.
The new National Assembly is taking shape. Once elected in the early legislative elections on Sunday, July 7, the 577 deputies were not idle. They then had to vote for the presidency of the hemicycle, the vice-presidency and allocate other key positions. After days of heated debate, a majority of the positions were thus recovered by the New Popular Front and the presidential coalition. “A lot has happened“, assures Martin Garagnon, spokesperson for Ensemble pour la République, but he deplores “false information and manipulation“.
According to him, the three days of negotiations were also marked by “false debates“. “This is a false controversy of the ministers-deputies who allegedly tarnished the re-election of Yaël Braun-Pivet in an undue manner.“. Indeed, elected officials from the left castigated the presidential camp after the re-election of the president of the National Assembly, accusing the 17 resigning ministers elected as deputies of having Yaël Braun-Pivet re-elected. Martin Garagnon is outraged by other scenes during the three days of voting, in particular those of deputies refusing to shake the hands of elected officials from the extreme right.”It is scandalous, unworthy, irresponsible.” he laments.
