this former Miss bursts into tears when talking about her son’s disability

After being elected Miss Belgium in 2003, Julie Taton began a career as a host in her native country but also in France. The one who co-presented Secret Story and who also officiated on NRJ is now flourishing in the world of politics ! The pretty blonde has in fact joined the MR, a political party within which she intends to make things happen, particularly for people with disabilities.

In an interview given to Ciné-Télé-Revue this Thursday February 1, 2024, Julie Taton spoke about her new daily life and her family lifeshe is the mother of a child with a disability. “When I learned about my son Côme’s disability (his eldest son aged 8 today, Editor’s note), I was a little lost and didn’t know how to react. I needed to meet people who were experiencing the same problem as me. I met Greg, the dad of little Louis who had another illness but whose features are quite similar to my son’s fragile

Julie Taton faced with her son’s disability
She then confides that she had a nice encounter: “Greg decided to create his own structure to accommodate children who have mental retardation, a deficiency or a difference and who are a little out of step with traditional schooling, who do not find their place there. With others, Greg bought a farm and they renovated everything. I find it so incredible and so beautiful…” she confided. This gave birth to “Maison Pao”, a small private structure which welcomes around fifteen children aged 2.5 to 12 years old around Enghien…

The former beauty queen then remembers the period when she learned of her son’s illness.“I first had to take the time to accept the blow, to digest the information, to accept it too. It was a tsunami: not only did I learn that my son was a carrier of this disease, but that it was me who passed it on to him. Everything is falling on you. Then, you wonder if your second baby, Tahoe, who had just been born and was only three weeks old at the time was also a carrier or Fortunately, that wasn’t the case, but he was born premature: I found myself there with my two sons in different hospitals and my husband was hospitalized in a third because he had back surgery “.

“Leave me alone, I hate you all”
With great emotion and before bursting into tears, she declared: “We made his first kindergarten double in Como, it was a first warning sign, there was something wrong. We made him take a lot of exams, every three months for the two first years of his life. They put retractors in his eye to measure his blood pressure, in connection with his glaucoma. I ended up freaking out, I couldn’t stand putting my baby in a state of stress anymore. so intense. (…) I ended up convincing myself that my baby had closed in on himself, that he was in “leave me alone, I hate you all. What the hell am I doing?” Is this world so aggressive?” I said to myself that maybe there was a bit of autism.”

If the 39-year-old mother wants to be reassured by having a structure that will welcome her son until he is 12, she cannot help but worry about his future. “I try to ask myself this question as little as possible because it worries me. It’s very complicated, because Côme is a very sensitive little boy who needs to be stimulated. I know that specialized education exists, but there is not necessarily an offer adapted to children in his case. (…) My husband and I are trying to broaden the scope of his support (…) I know it will be complicated. There , Como is small, so we’ll say that it can still be cute, but when it’s 25 years old, if it doesn’t click and if it’s not clean, for example, it won’t be anymore The same… “
