Indeed, as revealed in preview by M6 on Instagram, the 45-year-old farmer has Lyme disease, against which he fights daily to continue working despite the symptoms he endures and which are sometimes trying. The man reveals that he faced a long medical wandering, and had to wait 4 years, and several false diagnoses made, including that of depression, for Lyme disease to finally be detected in him: “I was tired all the time. At one point, in the evenings, I arrived at the end of the day and I could no longer, I no longer had the strength to go to meetings. I stopped because I I caught Lyme disease (…) They had seen a tick but they didn’t know how to treat it and it developed a lot.” he explained.

His daughter’s mother left him because of his illness

Before he was informed that a tick had transmitted Lyme to him, Stéphane had fallen into a state of apathyand could no longer get up in the morning, overcome by symptoms similar to those of depression: “Before, I didn’t really know what all my symptoms of fatigue and concentration were linked to. It played a lot of tricks on my private life. I couldn’t do everything anymore, there was like a ball hanging on me. in my leg. In the morning, I couldn’t get up. I told myself that I was lazy, good for nothing, a vegetable.” A calamitous state which got the better of the love story he shared with the mother of his ten-year-old daughter, who left him when the latter was only 2 and a half years old: “I think my daughter’s mother didn’t understand the tiredness I had. We separated when she was 2 and a half years old.”

Today, drug treatments allow Stéphane to live an almost normal life, but his asthenia remains very debilitating despite the pills: “Now everything is back to normal because I know what it comes from and I was able to find the appropriate treatment to keep me stable. It’s getting better but I’m still tired. In the mornings, it’s very hard to get up, I’m not an early riser. I would never get up before 8 o’clock.” Stéphane is far from being the only one affected by Lyme disease. This zoonosis, which is transmitted by a tick bite, is difficult to diagnose, due to the unreliable tests that exist in France and which are false positive or false negative one in two times. The procedure was strengthened a few years ago: if the first Western-Blot test carried out in the laboratory is positive, a second ELISA confirmation test is requested from the Pasteur Institute in Paris.

Many US stars are affected by it

Many personalities are affected by this zoonosis, which can affect the joints as well as the heart or blood system. Patients most often suffer from significant daily fatigue, constant joint pain, memory loss, dizziness, headaches and even skin rashes. Among the stars affected by Lyme, we find the singer Justin Bieberthe singer Avril Lavigneplayers Alex Baldwin And Richard Gerethe actress Amy Schumerthe American president George W. Bush or even the model Bella Hadid.
