For better and for worse. Journalist Marion Jollès has been married to racing driver Romain Grosjean for nine years now. And the worst, the couple recently experienced. Almost a year ago to the day, on November 29, 2020, Romain Grosjean came close to death during the Bahrain Grand Prix. After contact with a wheel of Russian pilot Daniil Kvyat’s vehicle, Romain Grosjean left the track, hitting the safety barriers at full speed. Romain Grosjean’s vehicle then cut in two before catching fire. Romain Grosjean only managed to get out of his car after 28 interminable seconds. Shocked but especially injured in the hand, the racing driver needed time and support to recover. He was obviously able to count on his wife Marion Jollès who lived, that day, the fear of his life.
“She made me a scene”
A landmark event on which Marion Jollès and Romain Grosjean return in their book “La mort en face”, published on October 20 by City editions. On the occasion of the promotion of this book, the couple gave an interview to our colleagues from “Gala”. An interview during which they told a striking anecdote of their relationship. Stating that Marion Jollès is more jealous than him, Romain Grosjean then launched: “Do you want us to talk about Cindy?”. Who is this famous Cindy? “In 2010, I found myself a teammate with a …”, begins the pilot before being interrupted by his half: “An ex in love”. “She made a scene for me,” continues Romain Grosjean. “So when he found her I was there and he was absolutely freezing with her”, completes the TV host before continuing: “He barely says hello to her, she leaves saying to herself ‘but it’s not possible, he makes the face to me? ‘ And he said to me: ‘Did you see? I was well?’ I said to him: ‘You were super cold, it’s worse!’ “. Fortunately, over time, Marion Jollès has learned to “calm” her jealousy, specifying that “three children later, things are much better”.
