This estrangement which almost put an end to the career of the former presenter of the JT of 1 p.m. on TF1…

It was when the Touche Pas À Mon Poste team was about to go on the air that the sad news of the death of Jean-Pierre Pernaut was announced. Bernard Montiel had great difficulties in particular to start the 6 to 7, hit by an immense pain.

Then Cyril Hanouna took over a few minutes later to inform that the entire program was going to be devoted to his friend. Several images, videos, memories were broadcast during this special talk show.

On set, several people intervened to tell anecdotes about one of the favorite personalities of the French.

In particular Laurent Fontaine who worked with him on TF1 in How much does it cost, a program that JPP presented from 1991 to 2010. The columnist shared a story concerning the journalist’s relationship with Étienne Mougeotte, vice-president of the group TF1 and antenna director of the French channel TF1 from 1987 to 2007.

“I also remember this whole period when Jean-Pierre Pernaut was mocked at TF1 where Etienne Mougeotte, the channel’s boss, didn’t get along so well with him. Above all, what saved Jean-Pierre was his crazy audiences. He would have fired him much faster if he didn’t have so many audiences. At 1 p.m., he had as many audiences as a prime-time show on TF1. The guy was untouchable.

The former presenter Video Gag resumed by sharing another story, about the relationship between the two men.

“I remember an argument”, he started before recalling that JPP was very “free”. “He did what he wanted. He made his little thoughts to each newspaper, he gave his opinion, which was still quite new. I remember Etienne Mougeotte, who said to him: ‘Okay, you stop swinging bullshit, were you asked to throw bullshit at the end of the newspaper. Answer that to Mougeotte, you find yourself very quickly at France 3. It was his audience that protected him.
