This year he accompanies the former Miss France Diane Leyre, for the 13th season of Dancing with the Stars, which will kick off on February 16, 2024. Absent since season 7 of the program, during which he accompanied the Host Karine Ferri, Yann-Alrick Mortreuil is back.
“I have a degenerative disease“
He, who is not a regular professional in the TF1 program, has in the past trained the YouTuber EnjoyPhoenix and the singer Tal. For the latter, it was 10 years ago. And he had revealed to the French Israeli a secret about his health… At the time, in fact, he explained to TV 7 days “I have a degenerative disease that has caused me to lose 80% of my hearing. For a long time I was self-conscious. Then the devices made progress. I feel the vibrations of the music on the plexus and the body. It’s very strong“, he confides.
A handicap which has long caused misery to Yann-Alrick Mortreuil. He had also explained to Closer, regarding his childhood: “As I couldn’t follow the conversations, I was told that I was ‘stupid’, I was rejected by the other children. Very quickly, I felt ashamed of having to repeat things when I didn’t understand. I cut myself off from the world, I had become antisocial”.
“I proved the opposite”
In the end, Yann-Alrick Mortreuil found his salvation in dance, a mode of expression that allowed him to excel. He also confided to our colleagues: “When I was competing, the president of my federation told my coach that I wouldn’t achieve anything because of my disability. I proved otherwise. Although, of course, I had difficulties that others didn’t have. I couldn’t hear the music well but I could hear the bass vibrations. Diane Leyre has been warned.
