Martin Scorsese does not know rest. After the success of Killers of the Flower Moonnominated numerous times in major American award ceremonies, the 81-year-old director has decided to revive a long-standing project according to information from the media Variety : a biopic about the American singer Frank Sinatra.
And to embody the interpreter of “My way”, Martin Scorsese did not look very far since he would have set his sights on… Leonardo DiCaprio. The collaboration between the two men has become commonplace in recent years with no less than five films in which the two played their respective roles as director and actor. Killers of the Flower Moon
. It therefore only took a few months to hear about a possible new association between the two monsters of American cinema.
But another name is also mentioned for this project, in the person of Jennifer Lawrence. The 33-year-old actress could indeed play the role of Ana Gardner, Frank Sinatra’s second wife. The filming between the two actors could also take place without a hitch since they have already worked together on the film Don’t Look Upcomedy-drama released on Netflix in 2021.
Tina Sinatra blocks everything
The threat to the smooth running of this project could, however, come from Frank Sinatra’s family. The crooner’s daughter, Tina Sinatra, who now manages her father’s estate, has not yet given her blessing to the film. Nothing to scare Martin Scorsese who prefers to concentrate on the development of the casting rather than the legal details. While waiting to obtain all the validations, Martin Scorsese will also focus on another biopic (yes, another one!): that of Jesus, which the director is preparing to shoot in Israel with former Spider-Man Andrew Garfield among the headliners announced.
Another important element could convince Tina Sinatra to give the director free rein: several American studios are already on board, with Sony in the lead! But Apple has not said its last word. The association of the cult director and the apple brand had worked well for Killers of the Flower Moonso why not repeat the experience…
