Dominique Sopo, the president of SOS Racisme denounces, Friday March 15 on franceinfo, the “good old racism” from the far right towards the 28-year-old Franco-Malian singer. Aya Nakamura, who could perform a song by Edith Piaf for the Olympics, received racist attacks from the far right. “This controversy deeply dishonors France“, deplores Dominique Sopo.
An investigation is opened after a report from Licra denouncing the publications of a racist nature to which the most listened to French-speaking singer in the world is the subject. She has been the target of the far right since the weekly The Express claimed that she had discussed with Emmanuel Macron her possible participation in the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.
“A detestable climate of racism”
“France is in the process of distinguishing itself through its extreme right”a few months before the Olympic Games, estimates the president of SOS Racisme who has also announced that he will take legal action. “We want to welcome the world, but we have a problem with our blacks”he denounces. “It might be time that we collectively refuse the crudeness with which the extreme right has for years established a detestable climate of racism in this country”he adds.
