this big slap for Vianney’s protege!

Revealed during the tenth season of “The Voice”, Mentissa was, as soon as she left the show, taken under the wing of her coach Vianney. From October 2021, she joined the label Tôt ou tard of her mentor and the radio broadcast of her title Et Bam, written by the latter, launched her career. The title will also be a great success and will receive a warm welcome from the public. The track reached over 15 million streams and was certified gold single. “This song, I did not expect it. Already, that my coach wrote me a song, it was already huge! When he made me listen to the song, I fell in love with it, because it describes my experience and my feelings well.“, said the singer when she saw the success surge. So inevitably, on November 18, when her first album, entitled “Twenties”, was released, expectations were high.

Unfortunately, ten days after its arrival in stores, the figures are not up to expectations. Indeed, as announced by our colleagues from Purecharts, Mentissa offers a timid entry: the finalist of “The Voice” only won over 1,500 fans with her first album. The young woman finds herself far from Patrick Bruel or Michel Polnareff who have already sold 18,000 and 10,700 copies of their new opus respectively.

Mentissa was counting on her second single, “Balance”, to make her debut album a real hit. A new composition in which the Belgian speaks with an open heart about certain wounds linked to remarks about her physique. The former finalist of “The Voice” evokes the discomfort felt in the face of standards and criteria of beauty. She talks about her “excess pounds”, for which she admits to being “starved”. In this second single, the former protege of Vianney shouts with force and conviction against the backdrop of a softer melody played on the piano: “Swing me, swing everything, I released the weight / Which weighed heavy on my heart, which prevented me from being beautiful, which prevented me from being me me, swing everything, I released the weight / Which weighed heavy on my heart, which prevented me from being beautiful, which prevented me from being me“.
