Thirteen people, former members of the ultra-right group Génération Identitaire, were arrested on Tuesday March 12 in several regions of France, franceinfo learned from a source close to the matter, partially confirming information from BFMTV. Génération identitaire was dissolved in March 2021 by a decree in the Council of Ministers.
All 13 are suspected of having illegally reconstituted a new ultra-right association, under the name Argos, according to a person close to the investigation. Six months ago, around ten activists from this group were arrested after an undeclared gathering in Cherbourg.
Tuesday morning, investigators carried out these arrests in several regions of France, with searches of the homes of ex-members of Generation Identity. This group stood out several years ago for media operations against Islam and migrants.
