Police were notified of the shooting around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday by at least one phone call to the 911 emergency center.

The teenager who was walking on Avenue Matte, near the intersection of Rue Pascal, was hit by bullets from a person who was riding in a moving vehicle. The boy was conscious when transported to the hospital.

At the scene of the shooting, SPVM police officers found several casings from firearm projectiles on the ground and noted bullet holes on a parked car. However, they do not know the exact circumstances of the conflict which would have been prior to the shooting, according to the information transmitted to them.

SPVM investigators erected a security perimeter and began examining the crime scene in the company of members of the canine squad and forensic identification technicians. During Tuesday night, they were able to interview witnesses to the incident, but no one had yet been arrested.

On July 13, last Wednesday, a person who was in a moving car opened fire on a group of people gathered at the intersection of boulevard Rolland and rue Pascal, in the same area. One person had been injured and when they arrived, the SPVM police officers had found casings of firearm projectiles on the ground, on rue Lapierre, which is close to the scene of this shooting.

And six days earlier, on July 7, shots had been fired at the intersection of Lapierre and Pascal streets; the SPVM did not report any casualties at the time.

The area of ​​Montreal North where the three shootings occurred in less than two weeks is densely populated; there are many multi-apartment buildings there.
