Third link bill reduced to $6.5 billion

Smaller, cheaper, but just as relevant according to the government: the new version of the third link presented Thursday afternoon in Lévis will include two tunnels with a reduced diameter and a bill reduced by 25%. A financial straitjacket now frames the project: the maximum budget envelope provided for the construction of the third Québec-Lévis link has increased from 10 to 6.5 billion dollars.

The route remains the same, from downtown Lévis to downtown Québec. By reducing the scope of this third link, the government explains that it wants to reduce “construction-related risks” and promote greater competition.

“The status quo has never been an option for our government,” indicated the Minister of Transport, François Bonnardel, taking note of the concerns expressed by the population. ” [Elles] are at the heart of our vision for a structuring network in the Capitale-Nationale […] We will continue to work to generate the greatest possible support for future projects for Quebec. »
