Things Take Time, Take Time, Courtney Barnett

Things Take Time, Take Time is the typical example of what will be called a “containment disk”. Ten new songs composed during this pandemic having inspired the author of themes – boredom, the banality of everyday life, friendship – which she expresses with a remarkable sense of observation and story. The candles lit in Rae street in opening, the anticipation of deconfinement on Write a List of Things to Look Foward To, of the particularly inspired Barnett offered on an album deliberately lazy, almost amorphous, in any case languid (on Before You Gotta Go and Turning green, the best of the album) in terms of rhythms and orchestrations. It’s part of the charm of the proposal, introspective without being serious, served with a touch of humor. Recorded and produced by the Australian and her colleague Stella Mozgawa (drummer for the band Warpaint), this third album does not have the rock force of the impeccable previous one. Tell Me How You Really Feel, but has charms that are revealed after a few plays.
