Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, the resigning Minister of Sports, was the guest on France 2’s “4 Vérités” on Thursday, August 1.

“The dream, his smile, there is something extraordinarily touching“, declared Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, Minister of Sports, about the swimming champion Léon Marchand, multiple medalist.

After a week of Games, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra believes that these Olympics are “a great satisfaction”. “For the moment, everything is going well in terms of the organization, we have a fantastic medal haul, we have to stay humble and keep things going like this”she said.

According to Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, the numerous French medals are not the result of simply having the Games at home. “First of all, there is a dream carried and lived by these athletes for years (…) They are also carried by an enthusiastic and fair-play public”she said.

Regarding the remuneration of medal-winning athletes, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra announced that she had increased the bonuses to 80,000 euros for the gold medal, 40,000 for the silver and 20,000 for the bronze.
