Two years after launching his new show We are live on France 2 broadcast on Saturday evening, Laurent Ruquier could well leave the ship at the start of the next school year. He would thus leave his colleague Léa Salamé alone in charge, she who joined him in the co-hosting in 2021. Neither Laurent Ruquier nor France Télévisions wished to react to this rumor which has been running for a while but, on the other hand, the host’s companion, Hugo Manos, had mentioned the subject in TPMP People. “He gets along very well with Léa Salamé, there is no problem with her. On the other hand, he likes to be alone at the controls. And the producer of Léa Salamé, it’s a little more complicated with him. I know that with Léa’s producer, it’s less easy. In short, all that pisses him off a little. Le Saturday night, potentially it can stop“, he had declared.
This decision to withdraw would not be so surprising for Thierry Ardisson. And for good reason, the idea that Laurent Ruquier shares the antenna with Léa Salamé had apparently not at all convinced the man in black from the start, as he made it known during an interview for The Parisian, published on May 28, 2022. He even admits having sensed a flaw in this configuration and had gone so far as to warn his colleague. “I had told Laurent that it was impossible to be in a duet. We are embarrassed. That’s what happened. We’ll see what happens with Léa“, he revealed.
Thierry Ardisson also explains the potential departure of Laurent Ruquier by a certain drop in audiences and a lack of interest from viewers. “Laurent has occupied the hut since 2006. At one point, there is a weariness that sets in. Especially since the previous concept was stronger with the two snipers“, he judges, referring to We are not in bed. The program made the heyday of France 2 from 2006 to 2020 until a disagreement arose between the host and his producer Catherine Barma.
Note that on Saturday evening, We are live aired earlier, starting at 9:50 p.m., just after the Cannes Film Festival closed. The new issue attracted 882,000 viewers.
