We enter the final bouquet. After a transition stage won in the sprint by Alberto Dainese (Team DSM) on Wednesday, the peloton returns to the mountains on Thursday May 25 for the 18th stage of the Giro. The peaks of this Tour of Italy will not be reached, but the four difficulties on the program in this relatively short stage (156 kilometers) could suffocate more than one.

Shortly after the start, given from Oderzo in the Venetian plain, the peloton will come up against the Passo della Crossetta, a 1st category pass with some sections at 11%. The Forcella Cibiana, also 1st category, will offer robust sectors at 15%, before the ascent of the Coi, short (5.8 km) and 2nd category but whose hectometres at 19% could leave some of the runners dead. This is a short distance from the final finish, in Val di Zoldo.

The favorites, starting with the pink jersey Geraint Thomas (Ineos Grenadiers) or his first pursuers Joao Almeida (UAE Team Emirates) and Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma), could take advantage of this full-bodied menu to go on the attack.
