After being arrested by the Iranian morality police for wearing her headscarf incorrectly, Masha Amini died on September 16, 2022. A year after this tragedy, dissident Masih Alinejad believes that the fight continues in the country.

Masih Alinejad gave a voice to thousands of Iranian women. This dissident, exiled in the United States, has made social networks her weapon to fight against the Islamic Republic. A year after the death of Masha Amini and Mdespite the brutal repression of the regime, she retains her faith in the revolution. “I can tell you that the people are angry. People are angry and frustrated. They have nothing left to lose. They’re going to take to the streets again.”she assures. Journalist critical of power, Masih Alinejad was forced to leave Iran in 2009.

“Together you are more powerful”

Five years later, she launched the campaign on social networks: My stealthy freedom”. She brings together photos and videos of Iranian women daring to appear without a headscarf. “I return visible all these voices. I show them to the rest of the world. It allows these women to unite. Together you are more powerful”assures the woman of the year, according to the magazine Time. The mother now lives under the protection of the FBI and recently escaped a kidnapping and attempted murder.
