With the real estate crisis and apartment sales in free fall, many are turning to rental but you need a good record. Employees on fixed-term contracts and self-employed people are penalized, so some cheat and fudge their files.
Renting accommodation, an often long and winding project, made even more complicated with the real estate crisis. So to attract owners, some do not hesitate to inflate their salary on their pay slips, or even falsify their employment contract in a few clicks to make it appear like a permanent contract. The phenomenon has been spreading for several months. A young woman decided to falsify her rental file last September because she is not on a permanent contract. “I got a fake permanent contract, it was a friend’s permanent contract, with the help of a graphic designer friend,” she says. She does not regret her action.
Around forty euros for false pay slips
The practice is becoming commonplace, and even a business for some. On the internet, sites offer you the opportunity to obtain fake pay slips in just a few clicks for around forty euros. Result: between 2021 and 2023, the number of false rental documents increased by 30%.
