They are neither in couple nor simple roommates, but they build their life together. April and Renee talk about what this platonic relationship has brought them.
After eleven years of friendship, including five at a distance, April and Renee now live together and build their future together. However, they are not a couple in the traditional and romantic sense of the term. Their relationship has a name: they are platonic life partners. “We’re more than roommates, we’re two best friends, committed, like a marriage“, explains Renee. The latter lived in Singapore and joined April in Los Angeles after five years of separation.
It was in particular in 2020, when the pandemic began that the two acolytes began to maintain a deeper relationship despite the distance. They then realized that they wanted to share everyday moments together. “Our friendship is much stronger than all the romantic relationships we’ve had (…) we decided to stop waiting for a great hypothetical love, because we already had this relationship that fulfilled us and made us grow“, says April.
As they started talking about their life partnership on TikTok, they soon found that a lot of people shared the same lifestyle. By showing their relationship on the networks, they want to show that it is just as important to value relationships that strengthen us and do us good. If the two partners manage to maintain their relationship in the healthiest possible way, it is thanks to communication. “Honestly, it’s the most stable and fulfilling relationship we’ve ever had.“April rejoices.”We just think your life partner doesn’t have to be your lover“, concludes Renee.
