They struggle to protect with panache

In 1960, an American scientist named Roger Payne, who was working on the ultrasound used by bats to orient themselves, decided to investigate echoes present abundantly in US Navy recordings. The American army, which spied on the movements of submarines, had found in its tapes sounds that had nothing to do with the movement of propellers or the noise of engines. A talented researcher, Payne quickly discovered that the sounds were humpback whale melodies.
