A few days before the 80th anniversary of the Landing of June 6, 1944, many tourists flock to Omaha Beach (Normandy) to experience the event. They are greeted by tourists who perpetuate the memory of the Americans.
Not far from the American cemetery where more than 10,000 soldiers rest, several tourists flock to Omaha Beach to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings. Omaha Beach is the most famous of the five Allied Landing beaches in Normandy. On site, enthusiasts bring the event to life. Among them, guides like Romain Bréguet and Thierry Bidault. The latter offers a tailor-made tour to tourists.
After Omaha Beach, head to Pointe du Hoc. “They were supposed to arrive at 6:30 a.m., before the Navy bombardment,” re-situates the guide-lecturer with his hosts of the day. “I feel a mixture of pride and sadness… the cemetery is so moving”, laments Patricia Migdalias, an American tourist. Beyond the transmission of knowledge and historical memory, the guides are also the ambassadors of the region.
