“In my country they kill people, women, mothers, our children. But you don’t say anything, you don’t comment.” In a video posted on his Instagram account on Wednesday March 2, Ukrainian striker Andriy Yarmolenko virulently attacked Russian players who do not take a stand after the invasion of Ukraine.
“I have a question for the players of the Russian national team: guys, why are you sitting like idiots and not saying anything?”, Yarmolenko protested at the lack of reaction from his Russian counterparts. “I know a lot of you, you all told me it shouldn’t be like this, that your president is acting incorrectly”added the West Ham left-hander, still in shock and put to rest by his club.
Jersey of the selection on the body, the attacker with 44 goals with Ukraine calls on the Russian players to take a position to influence the outcome of the conflict. “So guys, you have influence over people, show them, I beg you…Now is the time to show your necks…in real life”, he insisted in front of the camera. A message particularly supported in the comments by Denys Boyko, goalkeeper of the selection and by the official account of the Ukrainian football federation.
