The driver, a woman in her twenties, was transported to a hospital to treat injuries considered serious, said Sûreté du Québec (SQ) spokesperson Élizabeth Marquis.
Sunday evening, the spokesperson clarified that the young woman was in stable condition.
The passenger, a man in his twenties, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, added the SQ spokesperson.
Blood samples will be taken from the driver when her condition permits, given that alcohol could be a factor.
SQ reconstructionists were dispatched to the site in order to understand the circumstances that led to this accident.
Highway 31 was closed for several hours to allow authorities to carry out their work, before being reopened to traffic around 9:30 a.m.
The SQ investigation continues.
