“I was quite surprised by the good behavior of these young people”, underlined Saturday January 1 on franceinfo Yves Delot, the mayor of Saint-Florentin (Yonne), where a rave party brought together 1,500 people at the height of the weekend in an abandoned factory in the town.
The mayor went to meet the revelers on Saturday afternoon and said he had discussed “with at least 150 of them” : “They told me that they will be gone this Sunday noon. I was happy to see that they were very respectful towards the mayor of the town. They are really well-behaved young people”, he explains, even if he finds it unfortunate such a large gathering without a barrier gesture during a period of strong circulation of the virus.
“I did not find people who were completely alcoholic, but rather young people who are happy to be together.”
“They all promised me that they will make the place as clean as they found it, and I saw that they put garbage bags all over the place.” The mayor specifies that four people were taken care of by the emergency services on site this Saturday, “which is not a big deal for such a large assembly.” “Sometimes we have ready-made ideas about youth”, he ends. “This is a youth who wanted to have a January 1 between them, that’s all.”
