Attached to the environmental association Youth For Climate, Camille explains that he will not go to the polls in a few weeks, because, according to him, the function of the President of the Republic does not make it possible to solve the problems which concern him.

A few weeks before the first round of the presidential election, abstentionism remains a worrying issue, especially among young people. Many are mobilized, defend a cause, campaign on the ground and yet they will not vote. This is the case of Camille, activist at Youth For Climate, guest on the 23h set of franceinfo. “Camille is a household name because at Youth For Climate we don’t want to see figures emerge, so we prefer to speak in public with other names. We are here for the collective and not for the individual”he explains.

Environmental activist but abstentionist, Camille will not vote: “In the association, some will go to vote. This is not an instruction. We find that today the presidential function does not offer many possibilities. We saw it with Nicolas Hulot, who even if he was not president, had an ineffective role”. He observes with bitterness that ecology is a “tiny dot”candidate programs and campaigns.

“I’m not going to vote because I think there are other things to do that are more interesting. On March 25, we are organizing a youth strike mobilization for the climate, for example”, he says. On the other hand, Camille went to the polls in the last regional elections: “We had the impression, before being disappointed, that depending on who was going to be elected, we were going to have a little leeway on the regional subjects on which we were campaigning”. If he were hypothetically elected president, he would work for a “total overhaul of the system”and believes that we must attack capitalism, which he defines as “the primary cause of the ongoing ecological disaster.”
