Thévenet ironwork in Rouille

Nicolas Thévenet remembers very well the moments spent with his grandfather Gilles. It was he who gave him the flame to weld in the forge, when he was 16 years old and preparing his apprenticeship in metalwork with the Compagnons du Devoir in Tours. Gilles Thévenet was a farrier in Quinçay for a long time, but diversified his activity in winter by doing ironwork, making gates and ramps. With the disappearance of horses, he redirected his activity towards ironwork and locksmithing. Nicolas Thévenet joined his father in ironwork in 1997 as an employee. He took over the reins in 2013.

A prototype for the Cloud Towers in Nanterre

Nicolas Thévenet likes challenges. He recently responded to the call for projects to produce the prototype of a window in the shape of a sage leaf, with a horizontal tilting opening. It is a window found on the Cloud Towers in Nanterre, a group of buildings built between 1973 and 1981, labeled since 2008 “Heritage of the 20th century”. The various windows with very original shapes are being restored.
