In order to limit their sugar consumption, more and more young people are replacing sodas with flavored waters. Sales have exploded for these products without sugar or preservatives. But can we trust these tasty waters?
To hydrate, some prefer to flavor water. There is the one already ready, in a bottle, and new ones, in the form of powder, cube or tablet to add to the water. These rather chemical drinks, without added sugar, all distill the same promise: that of encouraging hydration. “Sometimes it’s true that children, water…”, confides a grandmother, who bought flavors to make her grandchildren drink more water.
How much does flavored water cost?
New flavored waters are gaining popularity. For standard flavored waters, the price per liter is less than one euro. For new products, it costs between 1.23 euros and 1.33 euros for a liter. Some of them can cost up to almost five euros, and promise to optimize hydration. In 2023, classic flavored waters alone represented nearly 160 million euros in turnover.
