Several European countries are hit by inflation. This is particularly the case in Germany, of Italy and of Spain.
Butter, oil or pasta: the price of these three staples of our diet is exploding all over Europe. In Germany, inflation peaked in May at 7.9% over one year. Distributors say they have no choice but to pass on these increases on consumers. The German government has therefore released 30 billion euros to relieve households. This is compounded by soaring energy prices. Berlin has also introduced a fuel discount of 30 cents per liter for gasoline and 14 cents for diesel.
In Italy, inflation is close to 7% in one year. The government of Mario Draghi has also released 30 billion euros to help Italians whose income is less than 35,000 euros gross per year. In Spain, inflation reached 8.7% over one year. The government has also taken measures: a framework for rents, an increase in the minimum income and a discount of 20 euro cents per liter at the pump.
