these disturbing statements by La Zarra, candidate for France at Eurovision 2023

This year, there will be no public votes. Indeed, the official announcement was made on Thursday January 12, it is the Quebecer La Zarra, revealed by her hit “Tu t’en iras” in 2021 who will represent the tricolor chances during the next edition of the competition of the Eurovision. “It’s very funny, when I was little, my mother used to sing to me ‘The child and the bird‘”, confided the artist to Agence France Presse, in reference to the last title which allowed France to win with Marie Myriam.

Interviewed by Pure charts, the singer explained how she was selected. “In fact, I had been approached before, at the beginning of my career, but I was not ready, it’s as simple as that. Even musically! I had never been on stage. It would have been catastrophic for everyone“, she indicated.

Now ready to face the public, La Zarra is determined to do her best. “I will do it in a genuine and sincere way. I’m not going to try to dress up, to fit into a mold. Music is the reason why I sing, I was driven by desire, it was vital for me. I learned to sing like that. I want to offer my soul to France.”, she told Purecharts.

Aware that the task promises to be difficult, given that France has been dragging in the last places for quite a few editions, La Zarra confides some of her doubts. “I’m sure I’m going there to win“, she admits. Before conceding: “But it’s one of my fears, not to succeed. I said to them: “Imagine I arrive in last position and that I am embarrassing France!” Ok I can go escape to another country and sing in English. (Laughs) But it’s still scary.”

Recently, Barbara Pravi admitted to having had a little depression after the excitement linked to her beautiful second place in 2021.
