The surroundings of Bakhmout, in Ukraine, recorded heavy losses and many wounded. How does the relief work to stabilize them in an emergency, as close as possible to the front?

Near Bakhmout (Ukraine), a young soldier is seriously injured. He is taken care of in a disused building located very close to the front line, which must remain secret. The Russians regularly target these emergency medical centers. The soldier must be stopped and stabilized before being transferred to a real hospital, where he will be operated on.

New specialists in the care of war wounded

The teams sometimes receive 50 to 100 wounded in 24 hours, depending on the offensives in progress. “The Russians are trying to break through our lines at Bakhmout. They try to take the last access road to the city, but we defend ourselves“, says a wounded soldier. These anesthesiologists or surgeons all worked in civilian hospitals before the Russian invasion. They are now specialists in the care of war wounded.
