The joëlettes have their world championship and Bretons have taken part. This year 2022, Charente Maritime has welcomed teams mainly from all over Europe. The joëlettes (invented in France) are these wheelchairs for people with disabilities and adapted to sports competition in particular.
We call Louis Guillas in Morbihan who was in the chair that drove in the World Championship.
At the world championships, the strong nation remains France, the country that invented the joëlette (region of St Etienne). The countries represented such as Italy and Canada did not prevent the Bretons of Team Rederien from coming second this year.
Each team was made up of four riders around the joëlette. In terms of strategy, tactics made it possible to “release” certain “hares” to optimize the average pace of the crew.
As a team, the runners encourage each other strongly so as not to let anyone go. As in cycling, the running of the team was encouraged by the relays of each member. Louis, taken on the joëlette, encouraged his teammates at opportune times. He communicated as much information as possible such as the km traveled, the paces.
Over 12 km, the last kilometer is the best moment, the runners gave their all.
By tradition, the final sprint was run together with a smoke bomb.
At the finish, as throughout the course, the encouragement burst out.
