Thermomix Portal Update: Discover the New Features of Cookidoo

Vorwerk has launched the updated Cookidoo app alongside the Thermomix TM7, featuring a vibrant design and improved user experience. Key additions include a personalized ‘For You’ section, enhanced recipe discovery, and an upgraded ‘Guided Cooking’ feature with real-time interactions. Users can now add personal notes to recipes, and upcoming features like ‘Recipe Handover’ and ‘App Monitoring’ are set for summer 2025. The Cookidoo subscription remains at 60 euros annually, offering access to over 100,000 recipes.

During the unveiling of the Thermomix TM7, the renowned manufacturer Vorwerk also announced an exciting update for the Cookidoo platform. Now, just under two weeks ahead of the kitchen gadget’s launch, the revamped version of the recipe portal is live. Let’s dive into the new features and changes.

Revamped Cookidoo App for Thermomix TM7

The latest iteration of the Cookidoo app showcases a fresh, vibrant design that enhances the overall user experience. With stylish visuals, well-organized icons, and spacious layouts, navigating the app is effortless and enjoyable (our tests were conducted on an iPhone 16). The menu bar at the bottom simplifies access to key features: ‘For You’ (homepage), ‘Discover’ (recipe search), ‘My Recipes’ (saved favorites), ‘My Week’ (weekly planner), and ‘Shopping’ (shopping list).

Introducing the ‘For You’ Section

While Vorwerk has not completely overhauled the Cookidoo portal, several thoughtful updates have been made. Upon launching the mobile app (available on iOS and Android), users are greeted by the new ‘For You’ section, which curates recipes based on individual cooking and baking habits. As users engage more with the Thermomix and the Cookidoo app, the recommendations are expected to improve. Additionally, the ‘For You’ section will include articles filled with helpful tips and tricks for maximizing the Thermomix experience.

Exploring New Features in the Cookidoo App

Our testing revealed numerous enhancements within the ‘Discover’ menu, where popular recipe categories, trending highlights, and curated collections are displayed. Users can easily search for specific dishes or ingredients using the search bar at the top. If you choose to leave the search field blank and click the magnifying glass icon, all recipes compatible with your Thermomix and existing accessories will be shown.

Enhanced ‘Guided Cooking’ Experience

The ‘Guided Cooking’ feature, which offers detailed, step-by-step instructions for recipes, has received significant updates for the Thermomix TM7. One notable enhancement is the interaction with the built-in scale, which now accommodates ingredient adjustments from -3,000 to 3,000 grams. Recipes will list the required grams, allowing users to add ingredients sequentially. The scale automatically detects when the desired amount has been reached and moves to the next ingredient. For those with allergies or intolerances, the app allows you to exclude specific ingredients easily. Overall, ‘Guided Cooking’ has been designed to be more intuitive and visually appealing, featuring engaging images and icons.

A new addition is the Digital Twin feature, which acts as a visual guide on the 10-inch touchscreen, automatically recognizing the mixing bowl. This means actions are mirrored in real-time on the display. For example, when the mixing bowl lid is removed or ingredients are weighed, corresponding animations appear on the screen, making for a more interactive cooking experience. While it may not be essential, it’s a handy tool for everyday kitchen tasks.

Thermomix enthusiasts will be delighted to know that the TM7 allows users to once again add personal notes to individual recipes on Cookidoo. This feature, which was previously available with the TM5, was notably removed in the TM6, prompting feedback from many loyal users.

Upcoming Cookidoo Features for Summer 2025

The enhancements for the Cookidoo portal don’t stop here. Two additional features are set to launch in the summer of 2025, aimed at further improving user convenience. The ‘Recipe Handover’ feature will enable users to select a recipe in the Cookidoo app on their smartphones or tablets and transfer it seamlessly to the Thermomix TM7 by simply bringing the devices close together. Additionally, an ‘App Monitoring’ feature is expected, which will send push notifications to your smartphone when a recipe is complete or needs your attention. This means you can sit back and enjoy your favorite show without needing to stay glued to the kitchen.
