The Christmas spirit does indeed exist in Cossé-le-Vivien, in Mayenne. Hundreds of Mayennais and Mayennaises came to donate clothes and shoes and come to the aid of a family who lost everything in their house fire on December 24. The daughter of the stricken couple recalls “nearly 6,000 items of clothing donated“during the permanence organized by the town hall. It is undoubtedly”a little exaggerated“, reacts the mayor Christophe Langouët, but he indicates that the donors”have not stopped parading all afternoon“.
The generous Mayennais thanked by the daughter of the disaster couple
On social networks, the emotion of the 19-year-old girl is tangible: “My parents can’t believe it, they would like to thank you all for the kindness and the benevolence they receive […] Thank you for taking your time for them. There won’t be enough of a lifetime to thank you all.“The inhabitants of Cossé-le-Vivien and the surrounding area have responded more than present to this urgent appeal, launched by the town hall.
On our antenna, the mayor Christophe Langouët already greeted the donors on Friday evening: “We have enough clothes, we send a big thank you to all those who helped. ” More than a hundred people, he said, came to donate shoes and clothing. And he retains an image, that of a young man who has come to donate a pair of socks: “he said to himself that it was not enough, he went to buy a blanket, says Christophe Langouët. There is a lot of talk about individualism these days, but I believe the Mayenne people have proven just the opposite.“
After the first emergency, and the shock, the affected family and the town hall are thinking about the issue of housing. A family from Cossé-le-Vivien is said to have offered them to live in their house for a month in January, during their holidays.
