“There are no special measures and no additional law enforcement,” assures on franceinfo, Monday February 19, the president of the Agricultural Show Jean-Luc Poulain, while the agricultural sector is in crisis after the blockades led by farmers to demand better remuneration. Saturday February 24, the President of the Republic will inaugurate the 60th edition under pressure from professionals who are waiting for concrete answers from the government.

Before the inauguration of the Agricultural Show which takes place from February 24 to March 3, Emmanuel Macron receives at the Elysée on Tuesday at 3 p.m., the president of the Young Farmers (JA), Arnaud Gaillot, then at 4 p.m. that of the FNSEA, Arnaud Rousseau – the two agricultural unions are allied and largely in the majority.

4,000 animals, 600,000 visitors

Despite this tense climate, Jean-Luc Poulain wants to be reassuring, “there will be the same lounge as usual” And “the first thing we are paying attention to this year is the safety of visitors with the vigipirate plan in its maximum version. We will be attentive to the well-being of the animals but also the well-being of the visitors.”

“The animals arrive on Friday and Saturday morning everything will be ready to welcome the President of the Republic. We are expecting 4,000 animals, with again this year the absence of poultry due to avian flu, of which 2,500 are in competition”explains the president of the Agricultural Show.

“We are expecting 600,000 visitors because that is our ten-year average, but we never know how many visitors we will have, we will either be below or below the average,” specifies Jean-Luc Poulain, of whom it will be the “last show as president and not as a visitor”.
