There will be no release of Israeli hostages before Friday, November 24, as part of the agreement between Israel and Hamas, as claimed by several media outlets. Israel and Hamas announced on Wednesday the conclusion of an agreement providing for the release of 50 hostages held since the terrorist attacks of October 7, in exchange for 150 Palestinian prisoners and a four-day truce in the Gaza Strip. According to the head of Israel’s National Security Council, Tzachi Hanegbi, the release of some Israeli hostages will take place no earlier than Friday.

In a statement released Wednesday evening, Tzachi Hanegbi said the release phase of the ceasefire agreement with Hamas would proceed as planned and that the first tranche of Israeli hostages would be released on Friday. “Negotiations for the release of our hostages continue unceasingly”. The start of the liberation will not occur “not before Friday”he said in a press release overnight, without giving any explanations.

The names of the hostages concerned have not yet been revealed, and it is unknown, for example, whether French nationals still missing will be released by Hamas. The Israeli Ministry of Justice, for its part, published on Wednesday a list of 300 names of releasable Palestinians.
