Aymeric Gibet answered questions from France Télévisions on Saturday, a few minutes before the departure for France of the boat carrying the Olympic flame between Athens and Marseille.
The Olympic flame left the Greek capital, Athens, heading to France on Saturday April 27. She travels aboard the Belem. A few minutes before departure, its commander, Aymeric Gibet, did not hide a certain tension, at the microphone of France Télévisions. “I can’t lie to you, yes, there is stress. Stress, I think, for everyone”he admitted.
“There, seeing all these people (…), we realize the importance of the event”he added. “Our crew is professional, experienced in setting up and operating the Belem”, he stressed. On board, the torch will be well surrounded, since 16 professional sailors and 16 “young scouts” selected by Caisse d’Epargne will participate in the trip. The Olympic flame is due to arrive in Marseille on May 8.
