“When we know that the National Rally plans to go back on the commitments made by the Green Deal, there is reason to be afraid,” estimates Maé Bouteille, the vice-president of Fage, Sunday June 2 on franceinfo.
The student union is organizing a festival on Sunday afternoon in Paris “for a Europe without the extreme right” one week before the European elections. No political party is represented but anti-racist, feminist and environmentalist associations are on site. A major place is also given to environmental protection because “when we see the rate of eco-anxiety among young people”, we understand that ecology is “a major issue”explains Maé Bouteille.
“We know that the European scale is the important scale for action,” This is why she hopes that the 70% of young abstainers will go to the voting booth next weekend and that they will avoid slipping a far-right ballot into the ballot box. “There are different round tables that are organized on the issue of ecology […] to show that the extreme right is a real danger for the ecology.”
