“I want to tell Mr. Darmanin that there is no Republic with variable geometry”reacted Sunday February 11 on franceinfo the environmentalist MEP Marie Toussaint, after the announcement by the Minister of the Interior to put an end to land rights in Mayotte.

“The Republic deserves to be defended on French territory as well as on all the territories which belong to it”pleads Marie Toussaint. “We cannot continue to consider that there are lives that are worth less than others, territories that could be treated less well, and be subject to multiple exemptions.”

More cooperation with neighboring states

The European deputy and head of the environmentalist list for the elections next June testifies to “the way in which France constantly negotiates exemptions for the territories in Brussels overseas”. That’s enough”the chosen one gets carried away.

Marie Toussaint admits that “the situation is difficult” in Mayotte, that “the poverty rate is exploding”. “Of course, we leave the Mahorais alone”but France’s response must be through “more Republic, through more presence, through the fight against poverty and through better cooperation with neighboring countries”adds the MEP.
