“There is no positive answer”, reacted Thursday September 28 on franceinfo Jean-Guy Talamoni, the former president of the Corsican Assembly while Emmanuel Macron proposed the entry of Corsica into the Constitution and autonomy “neither against the State nor without the State”. “His remarks are intended to be more open in form, but in reality, there is no positive response regarding the demands which were those of the nationalists and which are today those of an absolute majority of Corsicans since 2017”did he declare.

The nationalists demand the “co-officiality of the Corsican language, a resident status to protect the house and our land” and the “recognition of the Corsican people”he listed. “On all these issues which are very important, there is no progress”he laments.

Before the Corsican Assembly in Ajaccio, the Head of State spoke “a historic moment”.

“We don’t see anything historic.”

“There is absolutely nothing new, except the de facto reaffirmation of the red lines which were set in 2022 by Mr. Darmanin and which were validated by the President of the Executive Council. So that cannot allow us satisfy”, he reaffirmed. Among these red lines, the co-officiality of French and the Corsican language. Emmanuel Macron is opposed to it. The head of state proposes that “the Corsican language could be better taught” And “placed at the heart of Corsican life”that she has “more place in public life”.

“There is not what we need to save our language, to save our land, to ensure that the Corsicans can live and continue to live in their own country”, regretted Jean-Guy Talamoni.
