Guest of 19/20 info, Aline Le Bail-Kremer, co-founder of the Stand with Ukraine collective, discusses the concern of the Ukrainian population in the face of the ongoing Russian offensive around Kharkiv.
Co-founder of the Stand with Ukraine collective, Aline Le Bail-Kremer explains in 19/20 info that the Russian advance in Ukraine worries the population of Kharkiv. “There was no panic, in the sense that the whole city was not emptied of its inhabitants (…) but there is great concern [autour de] what is happening in the town of Vovchansk, north of the city”where civilians were allegedly executed and detained.
“We know very well how things are going for Ukrainians under Russian occupation”continues Aline Le Bail-Kremer, evoking in particular the Boutcha massacre in March 2022. With the current offensive, the Russians would try to stretch the front to “find the points of weakness, see where they can try to break through in the future”. She also mentioned “misunderstanding” Ukrainians vis-à-vis the attitude of Europe and the United States in this conflict, judged guilty of providing ammunition too slowly and of being too cautious.
