Three weeks after the legislative elections and with a resigning government in charge only of current affairs, the president of the French Hospital Federation Arnaud Robinet, questioned by France Inter on the situation of the public hospital, warns of “the urgency to appoint a Minister of Health“.
“Even if current affairs are now managed as well by Catherine Vautrin“, the Minister of Labor “that by Frédéric Valletoux” in charge of Health, “What worries us is that the summer period is the time when we usually start working on the social security finance bill with the corresponding offices in each ministry“, explains Arnaud Robinet. However, this “is not the case today“, he laments, sharing “serious concerns regarding the PLFSS which, normally, should be presented in September.“
According to him, political instability is very damaging to the healthcare system and to the medium-term financial sustainability of public hospitals: “We need to have a minister, an interlocutor. I would like to remind you that hospitals are in deficit. 80% of medico-social establishments are in financial difficulty. So there is a form of concern on the part of the health world.“
