On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Sidaction association, Thursday March 21, 12/13 info receives Florence Thune, its general director, for an overview of the perception and management of the virus.

For the 30th anniversary of Sidaction, Thursday March 21, Florence Thune, general director of the association fighting the AIDS virus, is the guest of 12/13 info. The general director of Sidaction is all the more concerned as she “living with AIDS for 28 years”she recalls. “When I found out, I thought I was going to die.”she emphasizes, happy to still be able to bear witness to it.

Many preconceived ideas about the virus and its transmission persist today. “For people who are not very well informed, the view (of HIV-positive people) has not changed”deplores Florence Thune. “There is still an irrational fear of people living with HIV”she underlines, recalling the figures from the latest Sidaction survey: “44% of people would be uncomfortable if they knew the person looking after their children was HIV positive”.

The “Sidragtion”, between donation collections and prevention

Also on the 12/13 info set, Emily Tante, drag queen and founder of the “Sidragtion” event, wants to change mentalities. “In France, we have the opportunity to collect donations and call for generosity in the streets. So we said to ourselves that it was a good idea to reclaim public space”explains the activist about her association, whose members benefit from collections for “doing some prevention” in their drag queen clothes.
